Singing Lessons
Through the developing of my private practice, I am becoming increasingly interested and deeply passionate about teaching singing and singing pedagogy. For me, music – and especially singing – is all about communication, between performer and audience, between composer and performer/audience, between teacher and student; it is about conveying a story and human emotions that people can relate to and that give us a sense of connection and belonging. This requires not only a deep understanding of technical skills, but also a sensitivity to the text and the way it is set to music, both melodically and harmonically.
I love watching a student grow and facilitating their development and helping them on their own path. The most important thing to me is that they enjoy using their voice and telling a story through music.
My own skills are constantly developing through lessons, coachings and observations. I read extensively about singing technique and vocal pedagogy, engage at events of the British Voice Association and at the International Congress of Voice Teachers (2017). As part of my physical practice, I go to regular Yoga and Feldenkrais Method classes. This has inspired the topic of my master's thesis with a focus on how to best complement young singers' vocal training at conservatoire with bodywork practices such as Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais Method, Yoga or Pilates. I have since completed a comprehensive 4-year training program and am now a certified Feldenkrais practitioner.

Growing up bilingually with German and Swedish, I have also done language coaching for Trinity Laban Opera Scenes and fellow students in their lessons and group classes. I regularly lead projects at Trinity Laban, introducing students to the rich Swedish song repertoire and providing language coaching. This specialisation has also led to collaborations with professional singers seeking to refine their language skills in German and Swedish.
My teaching portfolio has expanded to include both classical and musical theatre singers, ranging from conservatoire undergraduates to aspiring professionals. I have successfully prepared numerous students for ABRSM and Trinity College London grade exams. Additionally, I lead Feldenkrais Method group classes in various settings, including online platforms, Trinity Laban Conservatoire's undergraduate program, and Laban Health.
I am a member of the British Voice Association (BVA), the Association of Teachers of Singing (AOTOS) and the Independent Society of Musicians (ISM).
Building on this extensive professional experience, I am currently undertaking a PhD at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. My research investigates the effects of the Feldenkrais Method on singing, aiming to bridge the gap between somatic practices and vocal pedagogy.

“I find Lars to be a genuine, hugely intelligent and engaging man who clearly thoroughly enjoys helping his students. I am a "mature" student - Tenor - and his fresh approach and knowledge is enabling me to think differently and has encouraged me to really start enjoying my voice again. I thoroughly enjoy your sessions - Thank You!”

“I chose to work with Lars because I had totally lost confidence and ability to sing. He has worked with me in a structured but informal way to ensure steady progress and enjoyment of lessons. He is very collaborative in approach, working with a student's interests, whilst ensuring he extends range and gives encouragement to work outside of comfort zone. I enjoy the lessons and would highly recommend Lars as a tutor.”
Location
My studio is based in Greenwich, only 7 min walk to Cutty Sark DLR station, a 2 min walk to Maze Hill train station and a short bus ride from North Greenwich tube station.
